里山について英語で表現してみた

Satoyama

Satoyama is a nature developed and administered by human being. We can see a good harmony between the people and the nature. It seems they are helping each other in the way of the very sophisticated balance kept in their intimate relationships. So it is neither a complete nature nor village.

I think this satoyama style is very uncommon in the world. That is because , in the normal relationship between people and natures, they mustn't be equal. It means of course people control and make use of them. Our value of the nature and feelings that  japanese people admire natures would come from this uniqe relationship.

We like to see the beauty of satoyama and sometime go there in our holidays. We express our appreciation of the nature then. But I think that we should know the reason why the satoyama can retain such a beautiful scenery.

 SO when we argue about how to keep its nature, we have to give a consideration for the people living in the nature too.
